NEW INFORMATION:Infant Acetaminophen Oral Suspension Dosage
What's Changing?*
The amount (concentration) of acetaminophen for infants is changing.
All boxes and bottles clearly label the concentration. Always tell your healthcare professional exactly which concentration you have so that he or she can tell you the correct dosage amount for the product you are using.
Old Concentration
80 mg per 0.8ml
New Concentration
160 mg per 5ml
As always, it is very important to read and follow the label directions.
The dosing device is changing.
Along with the new formula comes a new measuring and dosing device. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU ALWAYS USE THE DEVICE THAT COMES WITH THE BOTTLE YOU HAVE. The old concentration came with a medicine dropper, and the new concentration comes with a dosing syringe. Pay close attention to which concentration you have so that you can always give your child the right dose.
The dosing directions are changing.
For children under two years of age, only your healthcare professional can give you the right dose for your baby, therefore, please call a doctor or pharmacist to be sure you know the right dose before using these products.
Do not use the directions from the new product with the old product. Using the directions from the new product with the old product could result in serious overdose and cause liver damage.
