Meryl Newman-Cedar, M.D.
Dr. Newman-Cedar, commonly called “Dr. Meryl”, has been in private practice since 1986. She attended medical school at the SUNY-Downstate Medical Center and completed her internship and residency in Pediatrics at NewYork- Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell Medical Center. After her residency, Meryl did a fellowship in Child Development at NYPH.
Meryl is an Assistant Attending Pediatrician at NYPH-Cornell, a Clinical Instructor in Pediatrics at Weill-Cornell Medical Center, a member of the hospital’s Voluntary Faculty Committee and has nursery privileges at Lenox Hill Hospital. She is a preceptor to Weill-Cornell Medical College medical students and residents and has been the recipient of the 2009 Award for Teaching Excellence. She has been listed in New York Magazine, Castle Connolly, the Guide To America’s Top Pediatricians. Meryl has also been included in The Best Doctors in America 2009-2022 database.
Meryl and her husband, Phil, have two sons. She enjoys reading, biking, spending time in the Berkshires and golfing. She is also an active member of her local community, serving on numerous boards and committees.

Bruce Sacks, M.D.
Dr. Sacks joined Meryl Newman-Cedar in private practice in 1991. He attended medical school at SUNY-Downstate Medical Center and completed his residency in Pediatrics at Downstate/King County Hospital. Bruce served as Chief Resident at Downstate after completing his residency during which time he supervised over 25 residents in both the pediatric and intensive care ward settings.
Bruce is an Assistant Attending at NYPH-Cornell as well as a preceptor to Weill-Cornell Medical College medical students and residents. He has been listed in Castle Connelly and the Guide To America’s Top Pediatricians.
Bruce and his wife, Julie, have two daughters. He is a musician and an avid fan of musical theatre. He is also a die-hard fan of the New York Rangers and Mets.

Lara Gordon, M.D.
Dr. Gordon joined Dr. Newman-Cedar and Dr. Sacks in November 2004. She received her medical degree from SUNY-Downstate Medical Center and did her Pediatric residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center. She proceeded to complete a fellowship in Child Abuse Pediatrics at NYPH-Weill Cornell Medical Center.
Lara is an Assistant Attending Pediatrician at NYPH-Cornell and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Weill-Cornell Medical Center. She is a preceptor to pediatric residents and medical students in the pediatric and adolescent clinics. Lara is also serves as the Director of the Division of Child Protection at NYPH-Cornell where she evaluates and treats all children who are suspected victims of child abuse and/or neglect. She is a member of the New York City Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect, and NYPH Child Protection Committee.
Lara and her husband, Rob, have three active children. When she is not at work, Lara enjoys traveling, reading, baking and spending time with her family.
